Lake Michigan Credit Union
LMCU is a well-known neighbor. Our local branch is at 5354 Northland Dr NE, with 18 branches in Kent County alone. LMCU is now the largest credit union in Michigan and one of the largest in the United States, serving more than 645,000 members across 75 physical branches. It has even expanded to Florida to serve Michigan snowbirds!
Lloyd Hutt was a teacher in the Grand Rapids Public School system when the Great Depression forced drastic budget cuts and teacher shortages. Hutt and 13 other visionary teachers pooled their resources to create the Grand Rapids Teachers Credit Union, which began operating out of Hutt’s personal home.
From this simple yet revolutionary concept, decades of growth have yielded today’s Lake Michigan Credit Union (LMCU), now the largest financial institution headquartered in West Michigan. It’s a great story, one that Lloyd Hutt himself could never have fully imagined.
Great Lakes Glow Golf
Dan McKinney, co-owner of Great Lakes Glow Golf with his dad, Larry, have between them some 100 years of experience and their roots in Northview run deep. Dan attended Northview Public Schools from K-12, and his daughter started Kindergarten in the same classroom he did. Dan's commitment: "Let's make Plainfield Avenue the choice over other commercial districts. We boost all businesses when we invest in ourselves."
